Privacy and security
Information used by the site
The map does not request your device location. An account is optional and is used only for account features such as favorites and trip lists. Cloudflare processes ordinary request information needed to deliver and secure the site, which can include an IP address, browser information, requested URLs, timestamps, and security signals.
The site records limited operational events—such as search, filter, detail, and support-link use—without recording the text of your search in those event messages.
Approximate and precise positions
Public catalog files contain approximate marker positions. At close zoom, a visitor may request precise catalog positions for the current small map area after completing Cloudflare Turnstile verification.
Automated-access checks
Turnstile produces a one-time token that the site validates with Cloudflare. A successful check creates a secure, HTTP-only cookie scoped to this site. It expires after 30 minutes and is used only to authorize rate-limited precise-position requests.
Optional accounts and saved data
Clerk provides optional sign-in, session, and account-management services. When you sign in, Clerk processes the identifiers and authentication information needed to operate your account under its own privacy terms. Dive Site Map stores your Clerk user identifier together with favorites and named trip lists in account-specific Cloudflare storage. Saved records contain public location identifiers and descriptive information, not precise coordinates.
External services
Map tiles, source links, licensed images, Cloudflare Turnstile, optional Clerk authentication, and the support link may connect you to third-party services. Their privacy policies apply when your browser requests their content or you follow their links.
Retention and control
Rate-limit counters expire automatically. Cloudflare may retain security and operational logs according to the account’s service settings. You can remove the verification cookie through your browser’s site-data controls. Signed-in users can delete all favorites and trip lists from the Saved panel and manage their identity account through the Account control.
